How Does Acupuncture Work?

-
Very thin sterile needles are inserted into specific points in the body.
-
The needles prompt the body to release natural chemicals.
-
The needles also promote blood and Qi circulation.
-
Qi (Chee) is the body's energy. It runs alongs specific pathways in the body.
-
The free-flow of Qi and Blood is necessary to stay healthy.
-
When Qi and Blood become stagnate, pain and disease will develop.
-
In a typical treatment an acupuncturist will insert 10-20 needles. The needles will remain in place for about 30 minutes.
-
You may feel a warm tingly sensation at the needle sites, or even a feeling of deep pressure. This is a good sign that Qi has arrived.
-
Most patients feel very relaxed during the treatment and some even fall asleep.
-
Acupuncture has a cumulative effect, meaning repeated treatments have a greater effect on overall healing.
